Travellers decide late. They choose a place to eat, a lodge for the night or an attraction for the afternoon while already on the road. Hospitality and tourism businesses use billboards to be the obvious choice at that moment, and to build awareness among people who plan ahead.

We build and flight faces on the routes visitors use, from city approach roads to rural turn-offs.

Directional and turn-off faces

For lodges, guest farms, wine estates and attractions off the main route, the key task is getting a driver to the right turn. A well-placed face before the turn, carrying the name, a simple image and a distance or direction, does more than a large brand campaign. See farm and rural billboards and roadside billboards. Rural faces need landowner consent and municipal approval, and near national or provincial roads, roads authority approval, which we help you apply for.

Self-catering, bed and breakfast and guest-house operators often depend on a few well-placed faces. One face at the junction where visitors leave the main route is often worth more than several in other places. We can survey the approach and recommend the position that gives drivers the most time to react.

Distances matter. State how far the turn-off is from the main route and which direction most visitors arrive from, and we will place faces so drivers have time to indicate and slow down safely.

City hotels and restaurants

Urban hotels, conference venues and restaurant groups benefit from faces in business districts and near airports, convention areas and entertainment nodes. Portrait faces suit a premium message, and rooftop or wall-mounted faces on the property can serve as long-term identification. Our rooftop and wall-mounted pages explain what is involved.

Hotels that serve business travellers might prefer faces on routes to airports and conference centres, while leisure destinations might prefer routes out of major cities on Friday afternoons. Describe your guest and we will suggest corridors.

Seasonal and destination campaigns

Tourism is seasonal, and artwork changes with the calendar: school holidays, long weekends, summer, festive and winter specials. We plan flighting around those windows so skins change on schedule. Destination marketing bodies can run coordinated campaigns across several cities, with approved local partners or our travelling teams confirmed at quotation. For Southern and wider Africa, transport, import duties and local permits are confirmed per project.

Conference and wedding venues market to planners rather than drivers. Billboards near business districts, airports and transport routes support brand recognition, while wall-mounted faces on the venue provide permanent identification.

Image quality and presentation

Hospitality is judged by visuals. Supply high-resolution photography, keep the copy short and let the image carry the mood. We print PVC and backlit skins for faces that must be seen at night, and our team checks resolution before print. A tired or torn face reflects badly on a premium venue, so we also offer repairs and scheduled skin changes.

Photography is the main selling tool. Supply the sharpest images you have, and avoid overlaying text on busy parts of the picture. Our design team can place copy where it will be legible.

Digital for specials and events

A restaurant or hotel with rotating specials may prefer a digital face that can show the current offer. Brightness, operating hours and content may be restricted by the approving authority, and we confirm these limits early. Our LED billboards page covers the options.

Faces near the coast or in humid areas may need coatings suited to salt air and moisture. We advise on materials after seeing the site.

At a glance

Hospitality and tourism billboards catch travellers at the moment of decision. Billboards Africa builds and flights directional faces on rural turn-offs for lodges, guest farms and attractions, premium portrait faces for city hotels and restaurant groups, and rooftop or wall-mounted identification on the property. We print high-resolution PVC and backlit skins, change artwork for school holidays, long weekends and festive seasons and offer repairs so a premium venue never sits behind a tired face. Digital LED screens carry rotating specials. We work in Cape Town, Durban, Mbombela, Johannesburg and other provinces, and across Southern Africa with approved local partners. Faces at the junction where visitors leave the main route often work harder than several elsewhere, and coastal sites may need coatings suited to salt air.

All hospitality and tourism billboards need approval from the municipality, the landowner and, near national or provincial roads, the roads authority. We assist with applications and supporting documents, and approval rests with the authority. Send us your venue, the roads that lead to it and your seasons for a quotation.
