Education marketing runs to a calendar. Enrolment windows, open days, bursary deadlines and results announcements create short bursts of demand, and parents and learners decide close to home. Schools, colleges, universities and training providers use billboards and banners to reach the communities around their campuses.
We produce the structures and the skins, install them and take them down at the end of the window.
Local faces for local families
Most schools draw from a defined area, so faces close to the school and on the main roads parents use work better than distant highway sites. A roadside face near the gate, a banner on the fence and a wall-mounted face on a main building can all work together. See roadside billboards and wall-mounted billboards. Colleges and universities with a wider catchment may add faces on commuter routes and near transport hubs.
Private schools, public schools, early-learning centres, colleges and universities have different audiences, but they all need to be found. Early-learning centres rely on faces near homes and transport routes, while colleges often look for commuter corridors and transport hubs where students pass.
Parents often decide in the evening or at weekends, so lit faces and banners on routes used by families add value. We can advise on lighting and positions once we know the school's hours and neighbourhood.
Enrolment and open-day windows
Plan backwards from the date. Artwork needs to be approved, files supplied, skins printed and installed, and approvals secured before the window opens. Timing depends on the structure, site and approvals. We recommend sending site details and dates to us as early as you can, so we can advise on what is realistic.
Open-day banners can be reused if the artwork avoids dates. Use a permanent design with a removable date panel, and we can print a replacement date panel each year without redoing the whole banner.
Results and achievement messaging
Many institutions publicise results at the end of the year. Large-format banners and mesh banners suit fences and façades, and printed skins can be installed over existing faces where available. For a school, a banner on the boundary fence is often the most visible and affordable format, and installation is quick. See large format banner printing and mesh banners. Where names or photographs of learners are used, make sure your institution has the necessary consent, in line with POPIA.
Prefects, sports teams and alumni achievements are popular banner subjects. Banners on a school fence or entrance give the community pride in the school, and cost less to print than a full billboard skin.
Campus identification and wayfinding
Larger institutions need entrance signs, building identification and directional signage. We fabricate and install signage structures, including steel frames and lit faces where needed. Billboard lighting can be fitted for evening events, subject to the approving authority.
For sports fields, halls and auditoriums, we can supply banners, wall graphics and sponsor boards, built to suit indoor and outdoor conditions.
Approvals and responsibility
Faces on school property need the governing body's or owner's consent. Faces on public roads need municipal approval and, near national or provincial roads, roads authority approval. We assist with the applications and supporting documents, and approval rests with the authority. Teams work across Gauteng and other provinces, with approved local partners where required, confirmed at quotation.
Early-year planning pays off. Many institutions book faces and printing in the third term for the following year's enrolment campaign.
At a glance
School billboards and education advertising work when they reach families close to the campus at the right time. Billboards Africa builds, prints and flights faces for schools, colleges, universities and training providers: roadside billboards near the gate, banners on boundary fences, wall-mounted faces on main buildings and entrance signs with lighting for evening events. We plan backwards from enrolment, open-day and results dates, print PVC and mesh skins, and remove material when the window closes. Our teams work in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Soweto, Ekurhuleni and other provinces, with approved local partners confirmed at quotation. Banners with a removable date panel can be reused each year, with only the panel reprinted, and sports fields and halls can carry sponsor boards.
