A mobile LED screen trailer is a digital display mounted on a towable chassis. It arrives at a site, is levelled and powered up, and begins showing content without any permanent construction. That makes it useful for campaigns that need to follow an audience rather than wait for it.

Billboards Africa offers mobile LED trailers for roadshows, product launches, sporting and community events, election and awareness drives and temporary promotions at malls and developments. Availability, sizes and arrangements are confirmed at enquiry.

When a mobile screen makes sense

Mobile trailers suit short-term and travelling campaigns. A brand launching in several towns can move the same screen through each. A developer can park one at a show village during a launch weekend. An event organiser can put live footage in front of a crowd.

  • Roadshows covering several towns or provinces
  • Product launches and in-store promotions
  • Sports days, concerts and community events
  • Estate, school and municipal communication
  • Show houses and property launches
  • Awareness and public information campaigns

How the trailer works

The screen is mounted on a trailer that is towed to the location. Most designs lift or fold the screen into viewing position and use stabilisers so it stands securely. Power comes from a generator, a battery system or a connection to site supply, depending on the design and the duration. The sound, if required, is arranged separately and confirmed on your quotation.

Because the trailer is on public or private ground, positioning matters. It must be placed where it is visible, where it does not obstruct traffic or emergency access and where wind exposure is acceptable. We assess the position before setting up.

Permission and placement

A mobile screen on private property needs the owner's or centre management's consent. On public roads, verges and municipal land, permission from the relevant authority is required, and outdoor advertising rules may apply to a mobile unit parked in one place. We assist with supporting documents, and approval rests with the authority. Brightness and operating hours may be restricted.

Content and logistics

We can load your campaign content before the trailer leaves, or set it up so it can be updated remotely. See digital billboard content management for scheduling and updates. For a more permanent mobile solution without a screen, look at trailer billboards. Travel outside Gauteng is by our teams or approved local partners, and cross-border transport, duties and permits are confirmed per project.

Planning a mobile campaign

A good mobile campaign starts with a route or a list of locations. For each stop we need to know the date, the owner of the ground, the available space, whether the surface is level and whether power is available. Parking a trailer on a slope or soft ground is a safety risk, so we confirm the surface in advance.

Timing is also important. A screen is most effective when it is switched on before the crowd arrives and stays on until it leaves. Content loops should be short enough that a passer-by sees a full message in a few seconds, and long enough to feel fresh to those who stay.

We also consider weather. Strong wind is a limit for any raised screen, and heavy rain can interrupt an event. Contingency plans, such as moving the unit into a more sheltered spot or lowering the screen, are agreed with the organiser beforehand.

On the day, our team or the agreed operator arrives early, positions and levels the trailer, tests the content and checks that the area around it is safe for the crowd. At the end, the screen is lowered, secured and towed out, leaving the ground as it was found.

At a glance

Mobile LED screen trailers put a digital display wherever your audience gathers, and Billboards Africa offers them for roadshows, launches, events and temporary promotions in Gauteng and across South Africa. A mobile LED screen trailer is towed to site, levelled on stabilisers and raised into viewing position, then runs your content from a generator, battery or site supply.

These trailers suit multi-town tours, show village launches in Johannesburg and Pretoria, school and community events, estate communication and public awareness drives. We assess the position for visibility, wind and access, load or schedule your content in advance and arrange transport. Mobile screens on private land need owner consent, and units on public land need permission from the relevant authority, with brightness and hours possibly restricted. Cross-border travel, duties and permits are confirmed per project. Use the quote form to tell us your dates and locations. Our team positions, tests and removes the unit, so the organiser only needs to provide the space and, where required, a power point. Hire periods, towing, power and set-up arrangements are confirmed on your quotation once we know your dates.

Common questions

Can the trailer travel outside Gauteng?

Yes. Outside Gauteng, work is done by our teams travelling or through approved local partners, confirmed at quotation.

Does it need a power supply on site?

Not always. Depending on the design it can run from a generator or battery system. We confirm power at enquiry.

Is permission needed to park it?

Yes. Private owners must consent and public land requires permission from the relevant authority.

Can it show live footage?

Content options depend on the equipment and the event. Describe your requirements through the quote form and we will confirm what is possible.

How long can I have it for?

Hire periods and availability are confirmed at enquiry.
