Billboards for the Construction Industry

Site hoardings, project boards and supplier advertising for contractors, builders and building-material businesses.

Construction businesses use outdoor media in two ways. On site, hoardings and project boards identify the contractor, the client and the safety requirements. Off site, billboards promote contractors, hire companies, merchants and manufacturers to the people who buy from them. We build both.

This page covers contractors and suppliers. If you are a developer selling a project, see our page for property developers.

Site hoardings and project boards

A contractor's hoarding does several jobs: it screens the site, carries the project and company names, displays safety and permit information and can generate enquiries from passing trade. We fabricate frames to suit the site boundary, print mesh or PVC skins and install them in panels so damaged sections can be replaced without redoing the whole run. See construction site billboards for the formats we build.

Hoardings may need municipal approval, and some sites are governed by conditions attached to the building plan. We assist with applications and supporting documents. The decision rests with the authority.

Health and safety messaging is part of most site hoardings. Safety boards at entrances, required notices and company details can be printed as part of a single design, with space for permit information supplied by the contractor. We print what you supply and do not give legal advice on what a site must display.

Supplier and hire advertising

Building-material merchants, plant hire businesses, scaffolding companies and steel suppliers sell to people who are on the road a lot, often on industrial arterials and highway routes. A face close to an industrial node, a main road into a building-supply area or near a large development suits that audience. We offer rental space on available sites, with locations and flighting periods confirmed at enquiry.

Contractors who work in several cities may want a standard hoarding design, repeated on each project. We can keep the artwork template and produce panels to suit each boundary length, which keeps cost and time predictable from site to site.

Send us the boundary length and any gaps for gates or access points, and we will lay out the panels so signage lines up neatly and entrances stay clear for deliveries.

Frames, faces and structural capability

Construction brands often want to see how a billboard is built. Our workshop and site teams handle steel fabrication, foundations and erection of structures, with engineering design and sign-off arranged as the structure and site require. If you need a face installed on a wall, rooftop or gantry, we can assess the structure first. Our billboard construction and structural design pages give a closer look.

Large project signs for infrastructure and public works are usually specified by the client. If your contract sets dimensions, colours or wording for a project board, send us the specification and we will build to it.

Working at height

Façade branding, tall site wraps and rooftop faces require rope access or lifting. Rope access and crane work follow the applicable health and safety requirements, and we agree site rules, exclusion zones and access before work starts. Our mobile crane solutions page covers lifting for structures and skins.

Keeping hoardings presentable

Dust, wind and site traffic wear on hoardings quickly. We offer repairs, replacement panels and periodic skin changes so the project looks as orderly outside as inside. For multi-site contractors, we can plan a coordinated programme with outside-Gauteng work done by our teams or approved local partners, confirmed at quotation.

At project completion, we can remove hoardings, store reusable frames or dispose of damaged material, depending on what you agree on the quotation.

At a glance

Construction billboards cover the hoarding around your site and the faces that win your next customer. Billboards Africa fabricates and erects site hoardings in steel or timber-backed frames, prints mesh and PVC skins and installs them in panels that can be repaired section by section. For contractors, hire companies, merchants and manufacturers, we offer rental space on available sites near industrial nodes and arterial routes and can build structures with foundations and civil works. Façade and rooftop work uses rope access and mobile cranes. Teams work across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Ekurhuleni, Cape Town and Durban, with approved local partners elsewhere. A standard hoarding design can be repeated across projects in different cities, with panels cut to each boundary length and removed at completion.

Site hoardings and billboards may need approval from the municipality, the landowner and, near national or provincial roads, the roads authority. We assist with applications and supporting documents, and approval rests with the authority. Send us your site details and artwork for a quotation.
